The Wedgewood West project is a build-to-suit project which includes six structures (Buildings A, B, C, D, E & F) totaling approximately 700,000 square foot manufacturing, wholesale and distribution warehouses. The buildings are situated on a 53-acre parcel that includes storm water management, utilities, and asphalt and concrete pavement. The structures are composed of shallow spread footings, slab on grade, tilt up wall panels and structural steel framing. The project also includes county roadway construction in accordance with Maryland State Highway Administration requirements.
Specialized Engineering’s Role
Specialized Engineering provided geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and utility inspections for the project including:
Geotechnical investigation including electrical resistivity study
Soil compaction testing
Foundation soil bearing
Cast-in-place concrete testing
Floor flatness for slab on grade
Structural steel inspections
Roofing inspections
Concrete flexural strength for tilt-up wall panels
SWM structure inspections
Asphalt pavement testing to include state and county roadway widening and intersection upgrades
