WVDOH Route 9 Reconstruction

Berkeley & Jefferson County, WV

The project area is approximately 10 miles long and travels roughly northwest and southeast between the county seats of Martinsburg and Charles Town. Specialized Engineering is currently working on the 3 initial segments of the overall project (construction cost of $42 million). The proposed highway alignment averages 300 feet in width and includes several interchanges and access roads that connect it with existing West Virginia Route 9 and other secondary roads.

 

 

Specialized Engineering’s Role

Specialized Engineering is providing the technical material testing staff and the materials testing facility for the construction contractors to satisfy the project Quality Control requirements.

  • Field soil testing  

  • Field concrete testing 

  • Laboratory Testing (CBR, proctor, sieve analysis, Atterberg & plastic limit, gradation of aggregates, concrete compressive strength, shrinkage testing, permeability tests)
