National Institute of Health (NIH) Porter Neuroscience Research Center (PNRC) – Phase 1

OVERVIEW

The NIH Porter Neuroscience Research Center (PNRC) project is a multi-disciplinary neuroscience research laboratory. The 548,114 SF Center includes over 420,000 SF of research laboratories, 12,000 SF of lab administrative offices, 80,000 SF of animal research facilities, an 8,000 SF auditorium, a 10,000 SF cafeteria, and 20,000 SF of public space/atrium.

FACTS

Specialized Engineering was responsible for monitoring Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and Special Inspections during the phases of construction as well as ensuring the project was built in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and Montgomery County Complex Structures Program requirements. Testing and Special Inspection Services included that on the following:

  • Crack Monitoring

Specialized Engineering is conducting laboratory testing and analysis of proposed fill materials, planting soil, concrete cylinders, masonry grout and CMUs, fireproofing density samples, hot-mix asphalt, and stone sub-base.
