OVERVIEW

NIH NIAID facility is a 100,000-square-foot building housing laboratory space of animal research, radiology equipment, mechanical space, and waste-handling area. It includes BSL-2 and BSL-3 Laboratory suites and a suite of laboratories designed to operate at BSL-4 that will occupy a small portion of the building.

FACTS

Specialized Engineering was responsible for monitoring Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) during the phases of construction; ensuring the project was built in accordance with the project plans, and specifications prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Services include testing and inspection of the following:

Specialized Engineering is conducting laboratory testing and analysis of proposed fill materials, concrete cylinders, masonry grout and CMUs, fireproofing density samples, hot-mix asphalt, and stone sub-base.
